Buffalo Bills Fail In 2009 Opener @ New England

As a Bills fan, I for one didn’t like the idea of their first game of the 2009 Season a divisional, Monday Night Game at New England. Although I feel we always play the Patriots pretty tough and we always have a chance for an upset, the Patriots are just a better team with more offensive and defensive weapons. Plus with all the hype of Tyrell Owens becoming a Bill I didn’t want to see them start off the season with a loss.
Surprisingly The Bills looked great the entire game, they ran their no huddle offense and honestly out played the Patriots the entire game. The Bill’s managed to put 7 more up on the board with about 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter to give them a 24-13 lead. With a little help from the referees giving them a ridiculous spot for a first down, The Patriots marched down field to complete a Brady TD pass in a fashion they weren’t able to produce all game, making the score 24-19. They missed their 2 point conversion, eliminating their chances to tie the game with a field goal and with only 2 minutes left on the clock and the ball coming back to the Bills, one would think it was safe to put this game away in the Bills favor. Unfortunately kick returner, Leodis Mckelvin of the Buffalo Bill’s wasn’t able to hang on to the kick off and fumbled on the bills 20 yd line resulting in another Patriot TD and the lead 25-24.
The Bills had one last chance to put some points on the board, but there just wasn’t enough time or timeouts left to get the ball down field and the Bills lose another heart breaker that should have been a great start to the 2009 season. To make things even worse I took the Bills money line in the sports book as a 6:1 underdog, so I was about ready to collect my winnings.
