About Me

My name is Michael Ciccarelli, I'm from Niagara Falls, NY where I lived my whole life up until 2008. I currently work out of my home office in Las Vegas, NV operating a freelance business where I am able to combine my work with hobbies. Typically I work with small businesses and individuals to establish their presence online, redesign/manage their existing website and many other creative and technical web services.

I embrace technology, support the Open Source movement and participate in the social web. I spend a great deal of time on my computer but when I'm not working on projects, replying to emails or browsing the internet I do try to have a normal life. I like to play poker both live in local poker rooms and online. I also like to spend time outdoors, following sports and nightlife.

For over 5 years now I've been making websites that are innovative, well designed and functional. I take pride in creating well written XHTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP code that is clean, pixel-precise and needless to say standards compliant. I have strong understanding of Search engine optimization (SEO) and user experience design. Over the past couple years I've been developing all of my websites on popular content management systems such as WordPress, to give my clients the tools necessary to run a successful website.

I keep up-to-date with the latest web technologies and trends by frequently visiting websites such as: Smashing Magazine, Web Designer Wall and Envato Sites. I work almost daily in Adobe Photoshop and Coda developing websites from the ground up. On a day-to-day basis, it's rare that the word WordPress isn't tossed around a bit.

This site is was designed on a Mac using the 960 GS, hosted on a Host Gator dedicated server and is powered by the latest version of WordPress. The purpose of this site is to express my opinions in the blog on a wide range of subjects that interest me from web design/development to poker strategy and also highlight my latest work in the portfolio.
