The purpose of this system is to simplify or streamline the web design process by using commonly used dimensions and spacing based on a 960 pixel width. I like the way it turned out, everything aligns up, spacing is consistent and my style sheet is lightweight and not cluttered up with redundant margins, widths and other properties. I feel like everything is done correctly rather then hacked together and my markup is completely standards compliant for once.

This is my favorite design thus far, I’ve been a huge fan of the minimal designs lately. I’ve also been concentrating on typography and font embedding, which is something I’m just learning, but it is good trick to know in modern web design.

This is the result, It is however still far complete, I’m likely going to make some changes, so the image above will likely change fromt he current site. I also intend on adding some jQuery effects soon, really make things look slick and to enhance usability. I also need to complete the following:

  • design and develop portfolio page
  • design comments section
  • complete the contact page
  • rewrite my about page and add some photos
  • graphics: add some texture to BG and some kind of brand/logo
